Soooo, over the weekend I went to several of my very first auditions.

A break down?

Ok the first one I went to was very suspiciuos and was held outside of a library. The auditionwas supposidy for a sitcom. I ended up auditioning with this young guy, highschooler. He was very energetic and very serious about his wokr. I kept telling him to try to remain calm and take it easy. Anwyays…. we auditioned and basically the castin director told me that he will call me back, but not my co-star. So I am looking forward to receiving a call from them in the next 2 weeks about the second audition.

I am skeptica of all of this though because the peope that were running the place didn’t look very professional…. i don’t know hwo to describe it really. Very bootleg it seemed. On top of that I think that they are going to try to make me sign with their agency and take acting classes (to get money from me). Not doing it.

I later went to another audition. I did a monologue and it went horrible. But the lady told me that I could come back the next day and read hte script. I came back the next day, and immediatly didn’t want to be there. I was reading hte script and realize how GHETTO it was and how much of a bootleg agency it was aswell. The script had so many errors in it. They spelled “their” as “there” and even wrote “they excusES themselves from the table”…. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the lady saw me reading through her b.s. I don’t think she liked me very much. I don’t want to be a part of the show anyway, because I think that it is a Christian movie… i’m not a Christian.

What else?

Oh I went to another audition for a theatre company. I did my monologue and it went well. I even got a few laughs. I hope they calll me back to audition for some of thier shows this season. I was really nervous. I hope I get a gig!!!

Going to go look up more auditions!!

So I guess that I am going to become an actress now. I know that I will. It’s quite funny how you can start networking with people once you have the motivation to do so.

Just the other day I ran into a lady who was looking at books on writing screen plays. I built up the courage to ask her about it and she told me how she has written a book, is wroking on a comedy, and is about to shoot a short film about HIV/AIDS. I told her that I wanted to be an actress and would love to work with her!

She’s holding auditions in October for her short film, which she plans on shooting in December.  I emailed her immediatly and basically told her how serious I am about persuing an acting career just so she could remember me. I am going to email and call her again at the end of September to see if she has any definite dates for her auditions. I hope I can get a part!

In the mean time I have an audition to go to this Saturday. It will be my very first audition! It’s supposidly for a sitcom… but you never know until you actually get there to really know what it’s for, hehe. They gave a brief description of what they are looking for and I decided that I fit the bill. Yay! Basically they are looking for a light skinned, and likely a preferablly mixed (black/white) looking actress. I have light skin, hazel eyes, and sandy gold hair, and my hair is curly enough yet soft enough to “almost” look like I have something mixed inside of me.

I’m not sure how I want to present myself though. I think about how the other girls may present themself and think “I don’t want to be like that”. I imagine that most will wear the cutest outfit with heels, and probably look urban. I think that I kind of want to go in there looking like a bad arse. Clean and cute, but something rugid.

I say this because I want to go in there looking the part, thus I want to go in there looking as “biracial” as possible. And slipping into preppy clothes (white) with my features (black), I don’t think that would make look to unique from anyone else, and defintily not “biracial” looking enough. lol.

So I am going to for a heavy metal t-shirt, maybe some colorful jeans (i see these purpple jeans and they are really cute), and maybe some converses. I know I have the money for a tshirt, but I don’t know about the other stuff. I think that perhaps that can make me look a little bit more different, and maybe perhaps noticed from others.

On top of that I emailed the person that is organizing the audition just to confirm that it is still being held. He told me that I should bring a portfolio and resume if I have one.

I don’t.

But I am going to try to make a portfolio…. have my mom or someone take the pictures. HEY! Tyra Banks had her mom take her pictures, and she got discovered! So I am going to have to do the same I guess because I am soooo broke.

I am going to take them, get them developed, put them in a bind and we’ll just see from there. I hope they don’t laugh at me. You gotta’ start somewhere though, right?

Well I am off to search for more possible auditions!
